Silchar: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Sunday expressed concerns about the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh.
Speaking to the media at Lakhipur in Cachar district on the sidelines of a programme, he said, “It is unfortunate that such things are happening in Bangladesh. We are concerned about our own brothers and sisters living there. Our prayers are with them”
Sarma further said PM Narendra Modi is making all efforts to intervene through diplomatic channels. “The whole of India is rallying behind the minority Hindus in Bangladesh. The insecurity with which they are living, getting arrested at will, tortured without any reason, is deplorable.” Earlier in the day, Sarma along with Gauhati HC Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi inaugurated the building of an SDJM court in Lakhipur.
Meanwhile, five Bangladesh infiltrators were apprehended by Assam Police and sent back, Sarma wrote on X.
