Kanpur: A healthcare worker reportedly left the needle embedded in a girl's arm while administering a tetanus injection in the emergency ward of the district hospital in Hamirpur on Saturday evening.
The family created a ruckus and the situation was controlled after the police intervened. Mahak, 18-year-old daughter of Mausam Khan of Khalepura had come to the hospital for tetanus injection following a injury. A healthcare worker administered the injection around 8pm.
On returning, Mahak experienced pain at the injection site. Her mother Ruby found that the injection needle was still embedded in her arm. The family returned to the hospital to register their complaint with the staff and staged a protest against the negligence. The hospital authorities alerted the police.
CMS Dr RS Prajapati said that the matter is being investigated. tnn
