Noida: The city saw its first ‘moderate' air quality day after AQI ranging from ‘poor' to ‘severe' for 38 days. Greater Noida and Ghaziabad saw a similar improvement in air quality, recording their first ‘moderate' air day after 37 days. The last time the city recorded a ‘moderate' day was Oct 24, while Greater Noida and Ghaziabad last recorded the same on Oct 25.
On Monday, Noida recorded an AQI of 165, down from 215 (poor) on Sunday. Greater Noida's AQI dropped to 196 from 230 while Ghaziabad's AQI stood at 169 against Sunday's 222.
Air monitoring stations across the two districts recorded AQI ranging between ‘poor' and ‘moderate' on Monday.
In Noida, the Sector 62 air monitoring station recorded the worst AQI at 218 in the ‘poor' category. On the other end of the scale, Sector 1 recorded the best AQI in the city at 110, followed by Sector 125 (153) and Sector 116 (181) – all three in the ‘moderate' category. In Greater Noida, the Knowledge Park 5 station recorded AQI in the ‘poor' category at 216 while Knowledge Park 3 recorded ‘moderate' AQI at 177.
In Ghaziabad, Loni recorded the worst AQI at 210 in the poor category, followed by Vasundhara (158) and Sanjay nagar (140) in the ‘moderate' category. Data from the Indirapuram air monitoring station was not available for Monday.
According to a bulletin issued by IITM, "Mainly clear sky conditions with wind speed less than 08 kmph west direction prevailed over the region in the forenoon on Monday."
