Thiruvananthapuram: Cantonment police are searching for two unidentified men who attacked a man and his nephew during an argument over reckless driving at Vanross Junction on Friday night.
The 48-year-old resident of Asramam Lane in Sasthamangalam and his 22-year-old nephew were travelling on a two-wheeler when the incident occurred. One of the accused was driving an autorickshaw, whilst his accomplice occupied the passenger seat of the vehicle.
The accused was driving the auto recklessly, almost colliding with the victims two-wheeler. When the complainants questioned the driver, the duo assaulted them. The 48-year-old man was hit on the chest and was slapped several times. The accused also threatened to kill the man after trespassing into his house. When the nephew tried to save the man, he was also brutally attacked by the men.
As the people from the locality gathered, the duo escaped from the spot. The victims were hospitalised, and based on their complaint, police registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 115 (2) for voluntarily causing hurt, 351 (2) for criminal intimidation, 126 (2) for wrongful restraint, 296 (b) for abusing, and 351 (2) for criminal intimidation. "We are trying to trace the autorickshaw using CCTV visuals, and they will be arrested soon," said the police.
