Nagpur: If you want to achieve success in any field, only knowledge is not enough; courage is essential. Vishnu Manohar has shown this courage and made a mark not just in India but also in the USA. His dedication is inspiring, and I hope he now raises the profile of culinary art by developing international-standard chefs, said Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday.
Gadkari was speaking as the chief guest after presenting the Vidarbha Gaurav Award to Manohar at a ceremony held at the Institution of Engineers auditorium. The prestigious award, instituted by Krishi Vikas Pratishthan in memory of Maniklal Gandhi, celebrates its 25th year of recognising individuals for outstanding contributions to society.
Manohar received a cash prize of Rs1 lakh, a shawl, shriphal, and a memento from Gadkari.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including neurologist Padma Shri Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, senior journalists Ashok Wankhede and Girish Gandhi, along with cultural and social luminaries.
In his acceptance speech, Manohar dedicated the award to farmers of Vidarbha, emphasising their contribution to his success. "Be it the 26 records in the culinary field or opening my fifth restaurant in the US, none of this would be possible without the support of my family and colleagues. This honour is for all of them," he said.
Dr Meshram said, "Gadkari felicitated me, and soon after I received the Padma Shri. Today, he is felicitating Vishnu Manohar. I hope the same happens for him," he remarked to an enthusiastic applause.
Senior journalist Ashok Wankhede praised Manohar's multifaceted personality, describing him as not only a master chef but also an entertainer, singer and avid reader. "His hands create tasteful magic, but his heart and mind make him a truly exceptional individual," Wankhede said.
Girish Gandhi, in his introductory speech, lauded the Manohar family's collective talent. He highlighted Manohar's incredible journey and achievements, underscoring his record-breaking cooking feats and his international ventures.
The auditorium was packed with attendees, including Kanchan Gadkari, members of the Manohar family, and dignitaries from various fields.
