Patna: An elderly worker of the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) was found dead with multiple stab wounds at the veranda of his house in Bel Bihma village under Harpur police station area of Munger district on Monday morning. The deceased, Shyam Sundar Yadav (65), was sleeping at his veranda when unidentified miscreants allegedly stabbed him to death. He was the panchayat president of the party.
According to police, the incident came to light in the morning when a woman from the house went to wake him up. On being informed about the incident, the police reached the spot and sent the body to sadar hospital for postmortem. Kundan Kumar, son of the deceased, said, "At the time of the incident, my father was sleeping on a cot outside the house. He must have been killed while he was asleep."
Additional Inspector of Harpur police station, Vivek Raj, said that it appears that more than one person were involved in the murder. "From the condition of the body, it seems that the attackers pinned him down by the neck and chest, and then stabbed him in eyes, ears, and head, which led to his death on the spot."
"A dog squad and a forensic science lab (FSL) team visited the crime spot and collected samples. Initial investigation revealed that the deceased had a land dispute with some local villagers. No formal complaint has been received yet in this case. Action will be taken based on the complaint lodged by family members of the deceased. The police are probing it from all angles," added the cop.
