Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang on Sunday announced that Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann will soon inaugurate the statue of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh at Chandigarh international airport.
Responding to BJP’s criticism of the AAP govt for delay in the statue’s unveiling and its 72-hour ultimatum, Kang accused BJP of engaging in “petty politics” over the issue. He emphasised it was Mann’s efforts that led to the renaming of the airport to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh International Airport.
“After coming to power, CM Mann initiated the process of renaming the airport and also facilitated the installation of Bhagat Singh’s statue. The inauguration will take place very soon,” Kang assured.
