Amritsar: Ahead of the Dec 2 meeting of Sikh high priests, former jathedars of Akal Takht, Takht Damdama Sahib and Takht Patna Sahib have submitted their clarifications to the Akal Takht secretariat, clarifying why Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was pardoned in Sep 2015, said Akal Takht media consultant Talwinder Singh Bhuttar on Saturday.
The submissions have come even as Akal Takht jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has summoned BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa to explain his position as he enjoyed the status of a minister in the then SAD-BJP govt in Punjab.
Bhuttar said Akal Takht former jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Takht Damdama Sahib former jathedar Giani Gurmukh Singh, and Takht Patna Sahib former jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh had submitted their clarifications.
Sirsa, meanwhile, was the general secretary of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee when he was accorded a minister’s status by then CM, late Parkash Singh Badal, in 2016.
On Dec 2, Giani Raghbir has summoned SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, entire cabinet of SAD-BJP govt from 2007 to 2017, then core committee of SAD, and executive committee of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in 2015, to appear before Sikh high priests when they deliberate over a complaint by dissident Akali leaders.
