Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration has started a woollen garments' distribution drive among the children of anganwadi centres.
The drive, which began on Saturday, will provide two sets of warm clothes to the 44,192 children in the age group of three to six years across over 1,720 anganwadi centres.
The district social welfare department is the nodal agency through which the clothes would be distributed.
DC Ananya Mittal said, "As winter is about to set in soon, the need for woollen clothes of the anganwadi children should be taken care of. Hence, the social welfare officer has been given the responsibility to monitor the programme."
A staff at the anganwadi centre in Tiraldih in Potka, Kamala, said, "The students were happy to receive the woollen clothes.
The state meteorological centre recorded a minimum temperature of 18.5 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius in the city on Sunday. It forecast a dip in the minimum temperature in the next four days.
There are 16,899 children in the 3-4 age group, 16,569 children in the 4-5 age group, and 10,724 in the 5-6 age group, respectively.
