Gorakhpur: Addressing the inaugural MBBS batch of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University here on Saturday evening, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed optimism about India emerging as a global hub for medical tourism and emphasised importance of preparation to leverage this opportunity. He described medical tourism as a significant and impactful sector.
Interacting with students at the Shri Gorakhnath Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Yogi urged them to adopt discipline and hard work as the foundation for success. "There is no substitute for dedication, perseverance, and experience," he said, advising students to align their careers with a sense of service.
Highlighting India's rich healthcare heritage, the CM remarked that the nation had pioneered global advancements, including the first university and surgery by Maharishi Sushruta. He encouraged students to blend modern technology with traditional knowledge to uphold and expand this legacy.
Stressing the integration of technology in medical education, Yogi called for every doctor to evolve as a researcher to elevate healthcare services. "Good patient care isn't just about prescriptions, it's about earning blessings through compassion and patience," he added.
The CM also proposed creating a unified Indian medical system by combining allopathy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, and other traditional practices.
Lauding the university's diverse student body from 18 states as a "mini India," he encouraged them to lead a simple life, steering clear of materialism, and prepare for challenges ahead.
Following the interaction, Yogi inspected the hospital facilities and reviewed its advanced infrastructure, commending the team for their dedication to patient care.
Prominent university officials, including Vice Chancellor Prof Surinder Singh and registrar Pradeep Kumar Rao, accompanied him during the visit.
