Thiruvananthapuram: Poojappura police registered a case against a Thirkkannapuram ward councillor Jayalakshmi PS on Sunday for verbally abusing and defaming an 83-year-old man and his son on social media for complaining about the poor condition of the roads in the locality.
In the complaint, it was stated that the complainant Narayanan Nair of Thrikkannapuram had shared a note on his Facebook post complaining about the quality of road work. After seeing the post, the BJP councillor defamed the man and his son Naveen NS, 49, on a local WhatsApp group using vulgar language.
The complainant shared the audio clip as evidence before the police, and a case was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 296 (b) for abusing and 120 (o) of the Kerala Police Act for violating public order.
