Prayagraj: The 84-km-long third rail line project from Prayagraj (Iradatganj) to Manikpur was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This project is part of three multitracking rail projects with a total cost of Rs 7,927 crore. These projects aim to improve regional connectivity, reduce logistics costs, and ensure environmental benefits.
The new third line will reduce traffic pressure on the section, and passengers will benefit from fast and convenient travel. The project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 271 crore kg, which is equivalent to 11 crore trees.
The third rail line between Prayagraj and Chitrakoot will make it possible to operate additional trains for passengers and freight. The project will improve the connectivity of about 1,319 villages and 38 lakh people. The project will take four years to complete, and during this time, employment opportunities will be created for about one lakh man-days.
This project is another step towards making India's rail network modern and efficient under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. In another important development, keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers in the Maha Kumbh Mela, the railways built a mini hospital at Prayagraj Junction.
Amit Singh, PRO, Prayagraj division, said that a six-bed mini hospital was built on the city side of Prayagraj Junction. . First aid booths have been set up on all platforms of Prayagraj Junction, Chheoki, Naini, and Subedarganj stations to serve passengers during the Maha Kumbh.
