Rourkela: Ten days after he went missing, the body of a 45-year-old man was found buried near a hockey field in Tileikani village in Sundargarh district on Saturday.
Police exhumed the body of Balakrushna Barla in the afternoon and subsequently registered a murder case on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased's uncle. Family members of Barla identified the body. Post-mortem was conducted at Sundargarh district headquarters hospital on Sunday and his body handed over to his family.
Police said on Nov 20 night, Barla went out but did not return home. Family members launched a search but could not trace him. They then filed a missing person report in Kinjrikela police station.
On Saturday, some workers digging a pond near the hockey field got a foul smell emanating nearby. When they went closer, they saw a part of a body buried under the soil. They informed the local sarpanch, who then informed police.TNN
