New Delhi: A speeding car struck a young man crossing the road in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh. The force of the collision sent him flying nearly seven feet into the air before he crashed onto the other side of the street. Following the hit-and-run, the driver fled the scene along with the car.
The victim, identified as Nikhil, a resident of Paschimpuri, was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to another hospital, where his condition remains critical.
According to a police officer, the incident occurred around 1.30 am on Thursday and a case was filed. CCTV footage from a camera installed outside a nearby house captured the entire incident. The footage, lasting about 10 seconds, shows a white car speeding through the area and striking the pedestrian before quickly fleeing. However, the car's licence plate number is not visible in the footage.
Further probe is on to identify the vehicle and its driver, the officer added. tnn
