Patna: The residents of Patna looking for a peaceful place with cool winds and an open, clear sky to sit with their family members and friends can visit the J P Ganga Path in the city.
A 3 km-stretch of the Ganga Path is being developed as a no-vending zone with greenery, benches, decorative lights, and walking tracks for visitors. The work is being executed under the ‘riverfront development' project of the Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) from LCT Ghat to Kurji More on the J P Ganga Path.
According to an official of the PSCL, "The area from LCT Ghat to Kurji More is being developed as an extension of the J P Ganga Path. The area is being developed as a no-vending zone. No shops or eatery stalls will be allowed to set up here on the 3 km-stretch. Plant beds will be developed along the stretch. A total of 95 plant beds, including five big ones with a length of 17.05 metres and a width of 4.9 metres, will be developed here. The small plant beds will be made which will be 3.25 metres long and 2.25 metres wide. Foxtail palm trees in planter beds and benches for visitors will be installed nearby."
A parking place has been developed for the vehicles of the visitors, with one located near Digha roundabout and another near LCT ghat. It has a capacity of 150 vehicles on a stretch of 250 metres at each parking spot.
"A 500-metre stretch of walking track is being developed between LCT Ghat and Kurji More," added the PSCL official.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 32.13 crore.
Patna park division in-charge, Subodh Kumar Gupta, said: "A total of 50 benches will be installed alongside the walking track. The benches will be installed on the roadside of the track but will face the Ganga river. The idea is to develop a peaceful and green picnic spot."
