T'puram: When the curtain fell on the Thiruvananthapuram Revenue District Arts Festival, held at Neyyattinkara, the Thiruvananthapuram North team emerged victorious, claiming the overall championship with 885 points. Initially in fourth place during the first three days, the North team surged ahead on the final day, thanks to impressive performances in dance categories by Pattom GHSS, contributing 169 points to their tally.
For the first time, tribal dance forms such as Irula, Malayapulaya, and Paniya were featured, with Pattom GHSS dominating both the High School (HS) and Higher Secondary School (HSS) categories. Last year's champions, Thiruvananthapuram South, narrowly missed retaining the title, finishing second with 869 points. Kilimanoor, which led during the first three days, fell behind in the final stages, settling for third place with 852 points. Attingal and Palode rounded out the top five with 830 and 764 points, respectively.
Among schools, Carmel Higher Secondary School emerged as the best school with 283 points. SKVHSS Nandiyodu and KTCCEM HSS Kaduvayil secured second and third places with 229 and 207 points, respectively. Pattom Govt Girls HSS, with 169 points, was named the best govt school, while SKVHSS Nandiyodu took the title of best public school.
In the UP category, Attingal topped with 154 points, followed by Kilimanoor with 152 points. Kilimanoor claimed the title in the HS category with 362 points, while South took second place with 348 points. In the HSS category, North and South secured first and second places with 399 and 382 points, respectively. Champions in the UP category were Nellimoodu St Chrysostom (38 points), Carmel Higher Secondary School in the HS category (103 points), and SKVHSS Nandiyodu in the HSS category (157 points).
Sanskrit and Arabic
Festival winners: In the Sanskrit Festival, Palode and Neyyattinkara topped the UP category with 88 points, with Balaramapuram-South close behind with 86 points. SKV HS Nandiyode was named the best school.
In the HS category, South scored 88 points and edged out North-Palode which scored 85 points. In the Arabic Festival, Palode, Attingal, and others led the UP category with 65 points, while Kilimanoor dominated the HS category with 95 points.
