Patna: A salesman of a tractor agency was stabbed to death in front of his wife at his house at Diha village under Singhia police station area in Samastipur district late on Friday night. The reason behind the killing is not known yet, said police.
Acting swiftly, the police on Saturday arrested a person involved in the killing.
The deceased was identified as Sanjay Kumar Singh (32), son of Kameshwar Singh. He lived with his elderly parents, wife, and two children at the village and worked at a tractor agency in Paikra locality at Singhia.
"Sanjay returned home from work around midnight on Friday night. As soon as his wife opened the door, two persons, who were his known to him, attacked him with a knife, killing him on the spot. On receiving the information about the incident, the police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem at the sadar hospital," said Singhia SHO, Vishal Kumar Singh.
The deceased's wife has identified the persons involved in the killing. One of them owns a pizza shop in the locality, said the SHO.
The SHO said the forensic team visited the crime spot and collected samples from the place. "Acting on the statement of the deceased's wife, the pizza shopowner was arrested from his residence, while his friend is on the run. The knife used in the stabbing has not been recovered. The arrested person claimed that his friend fled with the knife. Raids are being carried out to nab him. No written application has been received from the deceased's family yet. The reason behind the killing is being investigated," added the SHO.
