Coimbatore: The city municipal corporation has completed about 60% of digital survey along the banks of the Noyyal river, as part of the Noyyal restoration project, using drones.
Restoration work is being carried out across 16.5 km of the riverbank which falls under the corporation's limits extending across South, East and Central zones. The project includes the establishment of concrete river boundaries and plantation of one lakhs palm seeds and one lakhs tree saplings along the banks.
An official note from the corporation said the installation of six feet long concrete boundaries purchased from the railway department has been completed for 5kms. It added that a plantation drive is underway across 20kms along both sides of the riverbank.
A total of 8,310 palm seeds have been planted so far, including 660 in the central zone 660, 1,450 in the East zone, 500 in the North zone, 1,100 in the West zone, and 4,600 in the South zone.
