Kanpur: Host Uttar Pradesh is struggling against the visiting Vidarbha team with a score of 3 for 106 runs in their first innings on the second day of their four-day Cooch Behar Trophy pool tie at Green Park stadium on Friday.
The visitors, resuming their first innings from 5 for 247, posted a total of 389 runs with Shree Choudhary's unbeaten knock of 136 runs. When UP commenced their innings, they lost their opening pair for merely 6 runs. At stumps, they were 3 for 106, trailing by 283 runs with seven wickets remaining.
After losing the opening pair, Aman and captain Bhavy Goyal endeavoured to stabilise the innings with modest success. Just when the partnership appeared promising, UP suffered a setback as Bhavy Goyal was adjudged leg before wicket to Devansh Thakkar. The pair scored 83 runs, with Bhavy contributing 37 runs from 93 deliveries, including 6 boundaries.
At close, Aman was unbeaten on 64, having struck 11 boundaries in 113 deliveries, accompanied by S Rai on 3.
Earlier, overnight batsmen Shree Choudhary and Vedant Dighade frustrated UP bowlers. Their sixth-wicket partnership added 12 runs before Aditya Kumar Singh dismissed Vedant, caught by Kartikeya Singh, for 60 runs off 67 deliveries, including 8 boundaries and 3 sixes.
Shree Choudhary reached his century in 232 deliveries. Sanskar Chavate supported him with a brisk 34 runs from 30 deliveries, including 6 boundaries, adding 44 runs together. Vidarbha subsequently lost Aditya R, reaching 8 for 361.
Post-lunch, Akshu Bajwa and Aditya Kumar claimed the wickets of Yash and Parth, concluding the innings. Akshu emerged as the most successful bowler with 5 wickets.
