VDA vice chairman, Pulkit Garg, on Thursday held a meeting to determine the terms and conditions for an MoU with the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) regarding the reconstruction of Jawaharlal Nehru Commercial Complex in the Englishiya Line.
About 40-45 years ago, VDA developed the Jawaharlal Nehru Commercial Complex in the Englishiya Line area on the road from Cantt Railway Station to Sigra. The market was created for the convenience of travellers and local residents and serves as a landmark near Cantt Railway station, Bus station, and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Kamalapati Tripathi Inter College.
According to VDA VC, the reconstruction of the Jawaharlal Nehru Complex will boost regional trade and administrative activities. This building will be a multi-storey structure. Facilities for pilgrims will be developed alongside commercial activities. Two major ropeway station buildings are also proposed near the building. An expression of interest (EOI), prepared by EY LLP, for the redevelopment of the complex was invited through e-tender in a previous board meeting and the board approved the redevelopment of the commercial complex.
During the meeting, additional secretary Gudakesh Sharma, general manager Anil Kumar Yadav from NBCC, VDA's superintending engineer Ajay Pawar, town planner, and others were present.
