Kota: A POCSO court in Kota on Thursday sentenced a 22-year-old man to imprisonment for 20 years for abducting and raping an eight-year-old girl in Railway Colony police station area of Kota city three years ago. The POCSO court-2 of Kota also imposed a penalty of Rs 1.10 lakh on the convict.
Public prosecutor Vijay Kachawa said the convict, Banti Bairwa, a resident of Bhadana under Railway Colony police station, had perpetrated the crime under the pretext of offering edibles to the minor survivor. He had lured her away to his room in the neighbourhood and raped her on Dec 3, 2021, said Kachawa.
When the minor returned crying and bleeding from Bairwa's room, her parents found out about the incident and lodged a complaint against him at Railway Colony police station the same day. Police registered a case under sections 363 and 376 of IPC and sections of the POCSO Act against Banti and arrested him on Dec 3, 2021. He was, however, subsequently released on bail, said Kachawa.
