Panaji: After Goa University’s ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) dropped year-on-year, the varsity has decided to hold training for its academics on data assimilation, analysis, and submission for NIRF 2025. This training will be conducted by experts from the Institute of Academic Excellence, Hyderabad.
The university’s directorate of internal quality assurance will organise the one-day training session with Nandhibatla Vishwanada Sastry and K Venkatesh from the Hyderabad institute. The experts will guide the academics from Goa on the significance of NIRF and the processes of data assimilation, analysis, and submission under each of the broad parameters on which the rank is allotted to institutes.
The NIRF was approved by the Union education ministry in 2015. This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology is based on recommendations from a core committee set up by the ministry to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.
The broad parameters based on which the rank is allotted to institutes are ‘teaching, learning and resources’, ‘research and professional practices’, ‘graduation outcomes’, ‘outreach and inclusivity’, and ‘perception’.
In NIRF 2024, Goa University featured in the 51-100 band in the category of state public universities. However, in the general category for all universities, Goa University slipped further to the 151-200 band as more institutions entered the race. At the 2022 and 2023 NIRF, Goa University featured in the 101 to 150 band in the general ranking.
