Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med are now officially on hiatus. The three shows that make up the One Chicago franchise aired their mid-season finales on Wednesday, November 20, and like most other network TV shows, will now take a break until the new year. But when are Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med returning to our screens?

When Do Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med Return in 2025?
Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med are set to return on January 8th. That makes the hiatus just about a month and a half, which is longer than it’s been in other years, but it’s not nearly as long as other networks—ABC shows aren’t returning until March, for example.
The three shows ended the season in very different places. Chicago Fire had a subdued episode that didn’t even feature Severide and ended with Herrmann and Mouch about to take their officers’ exams and Joe Cruz coming face to face with the cousin of the gang leader he let die in a fire years ago, all to help his brother Leon. And considering the messages the man was sending Cruz all episode, it seems unlikely he just wants to chat.

Chicago P.D., meanwhile, ended up on a pretty chilling note that sets up the back half of the season, but nothing that feels like a literal cliffhanger. Chief Reid somehow found out that Torres had slept with his CI, Gloria, and Burgess had covered for him—and later, so had Voight and the whole unit, and instead of exposing them or worse, charging them tells Voight that he wants them to “be friends.” And it’s clear that whatever Chief Reid wants from that friendship, it’s not good.
Then there’s Chicago Med, which ended on the worst cliffhanger of all three, with Sharon Goodwin getting stabbed by the wife of a former patient who died, and slowly bleeding out all episode, with no one coming near her office in time to help her. Near the end of the hour, she manages to get away and locks eyes with Dean Archer, who is just getting on an elevator. The doors close and Goodwin is left there, with us and her wondering if she can really survive if the assailant comes back to finish the job.

Will Archer get to Goodwin in time? Is Cruz in any real danger? What does Chief Reid want from the Intelligence unit? All these questions will surely start being answered when the shows return the second week of January. For now, fans have plenty of time to both worry about their favorites and make up theories about what could happen. That’s the only thing to do during such a long hiatus.
