Dhanbad: Sandeep Kumar, a Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan, who was in Dhanbad for election duty, shot himself on Tuesday. He was rushed to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) where he was declared dead.
Dhanbad City SP Ajit Kumar said the ITBP jawan was on election duty in the Sindri assembly constituency and was staying with his battalion at Binod Bihari Mahto College. "At around 7 am on Tuesday, other soldiers heard the sound of a gunshot. Upon reaching the spot, they found Sandeep lying unconscious with a bullet wound on the right side of his chest. Further probe is on," he said. The jawan hailed from Sikkim.
