Aizawl: Chief minister Lalduhoma chaired a meeting of representatives of Boeing Foundation and officials of the Mizoram govt here Wednesday to discuss the utilisation of Boeing's CSR initiatives in Mizoram.
Praveena Yagnambhat, Chief of Staff and CSR head for Boeing India & South Asia, began by outlining the company's current status and its CSR efforts. She said Boeing has been actively working in India's civil aviation and defence sectors, employing around 6,000 people. Through its CSR initiatives, the company has undertaken numerous projects, including providing support to hospitals in Aizawl, Lunglei and Siaha during the Covid-19 pandemic in collaboration with Doctors for You, a pan-India humanitarian organisation with international presence.
She expressed Boeing's interest in expanding its initiatives in Mizoram, particularly in healthcare and education sectors. Yagnambhat also sought suggestions from the chief minister and his team to identify areas of need. "We deeply appreciate the chief minister's warm reception and the constructive support offered by his team," she said.
The meeting covered several key proposals, including the deployment of specialised oncologists for cancer treatment in Aizawl, the supply of advanced equipment to the ICU at the lone Zoram Medical College (ZMC), and potential site visits to cancer hospitals and ZMC facilities to assess requirements.
In the education sector, Boeing is currently collaborating with the Learning Links Foundation. Discussions touched on the department's ongoing initiatives like Tinkering Labs and Sukanya STEM labs, as well as expanding STEM opportunities across schools in Mizoram.
