New Delhi: An argument over urinating in an open field led to the murder of a 37-year-old man in southeast Delhi's Tehkhand Village. Two minor boys were apprehended in the case.
Police received a call around 7 am on Nov 24 regarding a body found in the area. "The victim's face and head were severely crushed with a stone. A case for murder has been registered," an officer said. The deceased was later identified as Surender, a local resident.
The officer said that they got clues about the suspects from two youths.
"While reviewing the CCTV footage from the area, a team of cops noticed a motorcycle near the crime scene at the time of the incident. It tracked the motorcycle riders and asked them if they knew anything about the incident. The motorcycle riders, Vikas and Vimlesh, said that they heard the sound of screaming and saw two boys fleeing," said deputy commissioner of police (Southeast) Ravi Kumar Singh.
Based on this information, the two suspects, aged 14 and 15 years, were identified. They were later apprehended. During interrogation, they told the cops that they were friends and on Nov 23 at 11.30pm, they went to relieve themselves in an open area where Surender was sitting. "The duo asked him to move from that place, but he didn't. An argument erupted over this and both the sides began pelting stones at each other. Surender sustained injuries on his face. The duo then crushed his face with a stone," the officer explained.
