Nagpur: One of Nagpur's most awaited metro stations, Indora Square, moved a step closer to opening after a critical safety inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), Janak Kumar Garg, on Tuesday.
The inspection focused on safety compliance, with a report outlining necessary changes expected in a few days. MahaMetro officials have assured that the station will be operational shortly.
The Indora Square Metro Station, part of Nagpur Metro Phase-1, faced significant delays. Although the rest of Phase-1 became operational in December 2022, land acquisition challenges delayed the construction of Indora station. The acquisition, which began in 2016, was only finalised in October 2022, pushing the start of construction to November 2022.
Initially slated for operation in April 2024, the station missed multiple deadlines, including those in June and August. Despite these setbacks, the latest inspection renewed hopes for the station's timely opening. Officials emphasise the station's importance for commuters in a densely populated area, offering improved access to the Orange Line's North-South corridor.
