Lucknow: Four mobile Phone 13 Mini units, valued at Rs 2.5 lakh, were stolen from the facilitation centre of an e-commerce company in Bhokapur village under Sarojininagar tehsil, Banthra police station limits. The theft came to light during shipment loading when a package was found suspiciously light, on Nov 28, 2022. Despite filing an official complaint with the Banthra Police Station in Mar 2023 and multiple follow-up efforts, including representations to senior police officials, no FIR was registered, nor did any formal investigation commence.
This prompted the company to turn to court, urging the magistrate to direct police to register FIR and investigate the matter. The company's authorised representative, Mohit Gaur, filed a formal complaint, detailing that the facilitation centre functions as a hub for receiving, storing and dispatching products purchased online. On checking the shipment, officials discovered four empty boxes where the phones were supposed to be stored.
An internal investigation revealed that unknown individuals misappropriated the devices. CCTV footage was retrieved and submitted to assist the investigation. Despite reporting the theft promptly, police action was initiated only after a court directive. SO, Banthra, Ram Singh, said police registered a case and were conducting further inquiry to identify the perpetrators.
