Panaji: India and Tanzania continued to engage in enhancing military cooperation, with Goa hosting the third Joint Defence Cooperation Committee meeting between the countries on Tuesday. At the meet, they discussed areas of cooperation, including growing training opportunities for soldiers and officers, as well as maritime and defence industry collaboration.
India shares “close, warm and friendly” ties with Tanzania, with bilateral engagements in the fields of commerce, water, counter-terrorism, and culture, said an official. The two countries have a five-year roadmap to guide defence cooperation.
The Tanzanian delegation was led by Major General Fadhil Omary Nondo.Officials said that during the meeting, a review of the decisions taken during the previous meetings was conducted while potential areas for bilateral defence cooperation were discussed.
