Ahmedabad: A man residing near the Regional Passport Office, allegedly, molested his 32-year-old neighbour on Tuesday night.
The home-maker filed a complaint in this regard with the Gujarat University police.
She told police, "My husband and I were on our two-wheeler when the man began making inappropriate gestures at me. When my husband confronted him, he became aggressive and abusive. He grabbed my hand. My shouts for help brought my cousin brother and brother-in-law rushing to the scene."
Her complaint stated that the neighbour began fighting with her relatives that the accused began fighting with them as well. "Soon, his friends joined the fray. The neighbour tried to attack my relatives with a sharp knife. When he was unsuccessful, he tried to harm my husband and me." The complainant said that she then called the police and an ambulance.
The Gujarat University police registered a case against the man for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons, assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty and other offences under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
