Mahindra XEV 9e Launched: Mahindra has officially introduced its all-electric coupe-style SUV, the XEV 9e, with an initial price of ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for this model are expected to begin in February or March 2025, offering customers a new option in the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) market.

Spacious and Well-Designed: The XEV 9e is a sizable vehicle, measuring 4,790 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height. It has a 2,775 mm wheelbase, providing ample space inside. For utility, the SUV offers a 665-litre boot and a 150-litre front trunk (frunk), alongside a 207 mm ground clearance, making it practical for both urban and long-distance use.

Modern Exterior Styling: The vehicle features a blanked-out grille area topped by an LED light bar that stretches across the front, connecting the high-tech headlight clusters. It comes standard with 19-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels, with optional 20-inch alloys available. At the rear, slim LED tail-lights and Mahindra's illuminated "infinity" logo give the XEV 9e a futuristic look.

Technology-Focused Interior: Inside, the XEV 9e includes a unique triple-screen setup. Three 12.3-inch screens display vehicle information, control settings, and passenger features. The cabin also features a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo. Other standard interior elements include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, and automatic climate control with rear AC vents.

Battery Variants and Specifications: Mahindra offers the XEV 9e with two battery options: a 59 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a larger 79 kWh unit. The smaller battery powers a motor producing 231 hp, while the larger battery delivers 286 hp. Both configurations provide rear-wheel drive with a torque output of 380 Nm.

Range and Fast Charging: The 79 kWh variant is claimed to have a maximum range of 656 km on the MIDC cycle. It supports 175 kW DC fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 20-80% in 20 minutes. Mahindra also reports real-world tests showing over 500 km of range.

Performance Highlights: The XEV 9e equipped with the 79 kWh battery accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Its compact three-in-one powertrain integrates the motor, inverter, and transmission for improved efficiency. The smaller battery option is slightly less powerful but retains the same torque for capable driving performance.

Comprehensive Safety Features: Safety is a priority for the XEV 9e, with the top variant offering seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) at Level 2 autonomy. Features such as parking assist and blind-spot monitoring enhance driver confidence. The entry-level model includes six airbags, a reverse camera, and tyre pressure monitoring as standard.

Entertainment and Comfort: Premium versions of the XEV 9e include a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos support. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, heads-up display (HUD), and electronic parking brake. The cabin is designed for convenience, with tilt and telescopic steering adjustments and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

Built on INGLO Platform: The XEV 9e is underpinned by Mahindra’s modular INGLO platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. Both battery variants come with a lifetime warranty, reflecting Mahindra’s confidence in the durability and performance of their new EV technology.
