After the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed a charge sheet in a corruption case, the govt suspended Munesh Gurjar from both the positions of mayor and councillor.

In this case, Gurjar's husband, Sushil Gurjar, and two other individuals were apprehended on charges of demanding bribes for issuing land lease deeds. The ACB also named Munesh Gurjar as an accused in the case.
Yadav had contested the 2020 municipal corporation elections as an independent candidate after being denied a ticket by BJP. She won the election from Ward 74 by defeating the official BJP candidate and became a councillor. After her victory, she extended her support to BJP, and shortly thereafter, the party reinstated her as a primary member.
