Ahmedabad: The family of Kavi Dalpatram, along with the Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan and Gujarat Civil Engineers and Architects, launched the poet's seminal essay on Ahmedabad's civic issues. The launch ceremony took place at Kavishwar Dalpatram Chowk at Lambeshwar ni Pol on Relief Road on Monday.
Kunal Kavi, a descendant of the 19th-century poet, said that the 1858 essay gives a snapshot of Ahmedabad of that era."The book talks about the condition of roads, the need for lighting, sanitation and the need for an efficient firefighting system, citing incidents and also social practices. He gives examples of Mumbai and also appeals to authorities for bringing in behavioural and structural changes. It may prove valuable for scholars trying to understand the city's progress," he said.TNN
