The murder occurred around 10pm on Sunday.
Anju, who lived alone in the village, would commute from Ranchi, where her husband Anoop Singh and their two children reside. She visited the village only during routine and special immunisation days as part of her duties.
Anju's sister-in-law, who lives hardly 10 mt away, discovered the body late Sunday night. Police are interrogating her, OC Niraj added.
Lesliganj SDPO Manoj Kumar Jha visited the crime scene.
Investigators are exploring various angles, including possible connections to visitors at the sister-in-law's residence. Three men might have been involved in the murder, which appears to be premeditated and meticulously executed. While the victim's clothes were disheveled, there were no apparent signs of sexual assault. The body has been sent to the Medinirai Medical College and Hospital, Daltonganj, for post-mortem, police added.
Civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹75,000 to the bereaved family.
