Silchar: Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi launched a scathing attack on Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday in Silchar, asserting that the CM wasted approximately Rs 3,000 crore of state funds on unsuccessful BJP campaigning in Jharkhand. Gogoi contended that despite extensive campaigning, Sarma failed to secure electoral gains for his party.
“The people of Jharkhand rejected the lies and empty promises that Sarma has long used in Assam,” said Gogoi.

He additionally pointed out the lack of development in Assam’s Barak Valley, noting that BJP’s commitments remained unrealised. According to Gogoi, the BJP administration creates rifts between Assamese and Bengali communities while treating Barak Valley’s Bengali residents solely as electoral assets.
Gogoi highlighted the CM’s inconsistent approach towards Muslim voters. “Sarma once declared that ‘Miya’ votes were unnecessary but now targets Muslim-majority seats like Lahorighat, Samaguri, Rupahi, South Karimganj, and North Karimganj for the 2026 assembly elections. After winning the Karimganj Lok Sabha seat this year with their support, he is back to playing manipulative games,” Gogoi said.
The Raijor Dal leader questioned Sarma’s national political aspirations, suggesting recent events had diminished his prospects.
