Gurgaon: A team of police and excise officials raided a restaurant in Sector 29 on Monday and found it was serving alcohol without a valid licence.
During the raid, officials found alcohol being served in three of the restaurant's nine rooms. Various liquor brands and empty bottles were seized.
"The restaurant management failed to provide valid documentation for serving alcohol on the premises, leading authorities to initiate legal proceedings under the Punjab Excise Act (Haryana Amendment Bill 2020)," an official said.

According to excise norms, establishments must obtain an annual licence to serve liquor.
"The raid was conducted after a complaint about illegal liquor service," a cop said.
The restaurant could face hefty penalties if found guilty. Under excise regulations, licensed establishments must pay a basic annual fee of Rs20 lakh to operate until midnight, with extended hours costing an additional Rs 20lakh up to 2am, and Rs 5lakh for each subsequent hour.
The excise department frequently conducts surprise inspections to ensure compliance. Officials stressed that unlicensed liquor service not only violates laws but also poses risks to public safety.
