Patna: Governor-cum-chancellor of the state universities Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will honour 29 students of Patliputra University (PPU) with gold medals at the university convocation ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on December 16 at the S K Memorial Hall in Patna. Altogether, 700 students are expected to participate in the function, said PPU dean of students' welfare (DSW) prof A K Nag.
According to Nag, the convocation will be a grand occasion celebrating academic excellence and the hard work of the students. Governor will present gold medals to the top 29 achievers across various disciplines from arts, science and commerce, recognising their exceptional performances. "Besides, three students of history who were awarded PhD degrees will be handed over their degrees on this occasion by the governor," he said.
The students who wish to attend must complete their registration by December 10, for which the online registration fee is Rs 1,400 per participant. "Additionally, a dress code has been specified for the convocation ceremony, with students expected to wear a mandatory lemon yellow ‘malvi pagri' and ‘anga vastra' as part of their attire, which will add a traditional touch to the formal event," the DSW said, adding that the boys are supposed to wear white ‘payjama' and ‘kurta'. In contrast, the girls will wear white ‘salwar' and lemon-coloured ‘kurti' or ‘sari' with a red border and red blouse.
"Of the total 29 toppers, 18 of them are girls. In addition, 26 toppers are from regular courses belonging to the academic session 2022-24 and three others are from vocational courses — MCA, MBA and MSc biotechnology," Nag said.
PPU examination controller prof Manoj Kumar said the PPU has uploaded the list of achievers and recipients of gold medals on its website. "For any objection or query, students can register their objections or any kind of rectification by sending a mail to exam.controller@ppup.ac.in by November 28," he said.
