Delhi Capitals (DC) acquired South African batter Faf du Plessis for ₹2 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction in Jeddah on Monday.
Du Plessis led the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the last three seasons of the competition.
The opener has been one of the most synonymous figures with the IPL, especially due to his association with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He was a part of four title-winning units with the CSK.
In the previous mega auction, CSK chased him dearly but couldn’t get him. Du Plessis led RCB to a couple of playoffs but was unable to take them past the finishing line. Now at DC, will he become the new captain?
That’s an interesting question since the team shelled Rs 14 crore for KL Rahul, who is an obvious captaincy candidate along with Axar Patel, whom they retained.
