Chennai: PMK founder S Ramadoss has urged chief minister M K Stalin to make an announcement providing 10.5% reservation for Vanniyars on Nov 29.
In a letter written to Stalin on Sunday, Ramadoss said that he came to know that Stalin was set to inaugurate the memorial at Villupuram on Nov 29 built for vanniyar martyrs, who lost their lives during the protest demanding reservation in 1987.

"It has been 37 years since they lost their lives for reservation. Yet vanniyars have not received exclusive reservation,'' Ramadoss said.
The PMK founder said that though the legal process for announcing 10.5% reservation for Vanniyars in education and employment was getting delayed, time was ripe for making an announcement.
Ramadoss said that mere inauguration of memorials for Vanniyar martys would without announcing the reservation, for which they died, would be an insult to them.
