Jind: The Haryana govt marked the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki by holding a state-level event at Eklavya Stadium in Jind district on Sunday, where chief minister Nayab Singh Saini attended as the chief guest.
Maharishi Valmiki’s birth anniversary falls in October, but the state govt was unable to celebrate it due to imposition of model code of conduct.

During the day, the chief minister offered flowers at the portrait of Maharishi Valmiki and paid his respects. Afterward, he met with saints present at the ceremony to receive their blessings.
On this occasion, the chief minister announced a grant of Rs 51 lakh for the Maharishi Valmiki Bhavan in Narwana town of Jind district. He also said assistance would be provided for building a student hostel in Hisar.
Chief minister Saini said Maharishi Valmiki set ideal standards for a ruler in the Ramayana, and following those principles, the Haryana government is working for the welfare and upliftment of every citizen in the state. In line with Maharishi Valmiki's teachings and under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has worked for the upliftment of marginalized individuals.
He added that in fulfilment of the promises made in their manifesto, the state govt has implemented the classification of reservations within the Scheduled Castes into two categories: “Deprived Scheduled Castes” and “Other Scheduled Castes.”
CM listens to ‘Mann Ki Baat’
On Nov 24, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini listened to the 116th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' at DAV Public School in Jind.
The CM described the programme as an inspirational platform that spreads awareness on social issues and showcases individuals contributing to positive changes in society.

Conclude Valmiki corporation case probe soon: BJP plea to Karnataka HC
The Karnataka High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to address a petition concerning the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation scam case. Several BJP leaders, including MLAs and former MLAs, filed the petition requesting the court to expedite the ongoing investigation. They also urged for a status report to be submitted every fortnight.
