Guwahati: The installation of the replica of the ancient Kachari Kingdom sandstone monolith by state govt on the premises of the Assam Assembly has immortalised the essence of the kingdom and affirmed the cultural and historical significance of the indigenous community of the state, proclaimed the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU).
They expressed gratitude to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for erecting the monolith pillar.

The sandstone monolithic pillar was unveiled within the state assembly complex by the CM on Thursday, reaffirming that the incumbent govt remains unwavering in its pursuit to preserve the cultural heritage of its tribal communities.
In a letter to the CM, ABSU president Dipen Boro said it was an extraordinary and discerning gesture that exemplifies the CM’s unparalleled leadership and profound commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Assam. “The erection of this monolith, a potent symbol of the ancient Kachari civilisation, is an awe-inspiring tribute to the glorious history of Assam. The initiative to honour the kingdom’s legacy at such a significant site in the heart of Assam’s democracy is nothing short of monumental,” he added.
He added that the installation of the pillar has elevated the historical significance of the Kachari Kingdom and illuminated the vital contributions of the Bodo Kachari people, whose rich cultural and historical legacy has occasionally been overlooked.
Boro said state govt’s initiative has rendered the legacy of the Kachari Kingdom an indelible part of Assam’s identity and the monolith would continue to inspire pride, respect and remembrance.
