Madikeri: Kushalnagar police have registered a case against a tourist agent for defrauding visitors and are actively searching for the absconding individual. A tourist agent in Kushalnagar disappeared after collecting money from visitors from outside districts.
On Saturday, several families from Shivamogga and Chitradurga districts arrived in Kodagu in two buses.

Through an agent, they made reservations at a resort in Madapatna near Kushalnagar, including arrangements for meals and beverages.
Over a hundred visitors paid the agent approximately Rs 50,000 for resort expenses. The agent paid only a minimal advance to the resort and requested the establishment make the necessary arrangements. However, when the remaining payment was due, the agent vanished and became unreachable.
Upon learning about the situation, the visitors were distressed and found themselves in financial difficulty, unable to settle the resort bills for food and beverages consumed over two days.
The matter was reported to Kushalnagar town police station. The tourist agent Vivek from Shivamogga, who disappeared after collecting the advance payment, remains unreachable, and authorities continue their search. The affected tourists, caught in this predicament, pooled their limited resources and received online transfers from their hometowns to settle the resort charges.
Kushalnagar police have launched a search for the absconding agent.
