Kolkata: A day after BJP veteran Tathagata Roy sought a "full-time state president", the party's state general secretary, Agnimitra Paul, said Bengal BJP needed an "uncompromising president".
"We have to fight it out on the field every day. Whoever is the president should be able to carry out the fight against the govt in a non-compromising way. It is for central functionaries to choose the state president," she said on Monday.
Referring to BJP's performance in the Maharashtra assembly elections, Paul said nobody had imagined such a result."The party and Sangh have shown how we can perform in a united way. It will be a teamwork in Bengal too, and the govt will change in 2026," she said.
Earlier during the day, BJP's Asansol neta Jitendra Tiwari posted on X: "We will be defeated every time if we accuse others of our faults. If we are able to introspect and learn from the mistakes, we can surely win."
On Sunday, Bengal BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said the party needed to introspect and analyse the results of the six assembly seats that went for bypolls.
