OC & Modding Thermal tape and NVME heatsink

Any suggestions for thermal tape for DIY job? nothing extravagant.. just something economical that does the job?

Also, do NVME heatsinks help? Any suggestions around that?

It will definitely help if yours is overheating. Personally, if i am going a diy route anyway, i would just cut a piece of aluminium from a heatsink lying around and use that.

Not sure if my comment helps xD

thanks.. I'm looking to do the same. Reuse some small and large heatsinks on the VRMs and IC chips. I also have MSI NVMe heatsink from a broken mobo that should work..

but need to get a good solution to mount it.. the msi mobo had screw mount to hold it in place.. the new asus mobo does have that..

that's why the questions around thermal tape..

I'm not cutting anything here.. I have the heatsinks, just need the mounting mechanism.. hence searching for thermal tape recommendations.. maybe on amazon or flipkart.. like this https://amzn.in/d/9lm517f

But I'm not sure about these unbranded / local brands.. maybe someone here with experience can point me in the right direction
 
Any good or recommended heatsinks for M2 NVME SSD. Got a samsung 970 evo plus so wanting to keep it cool when running longer hours.
 
Okay I've got a question : are thermal tapes and thermal pads same ?
Sounds like a dumb question, but I need something to fix the heatsink on my ram stick ( Corsair vengeance)

I need a thermal pad that has stickiness on both sides.
Is this a double sided thermal tape ??

Any replies will be appreciated

The only difference between them is sizing of thickness, otherwise they're the same, but they're used for heat conductivity and not hear dissipation. You'll need that heat from the team to get dissipated, for that you need some metal like an aluminium heatsink.

So which one do I need ?
What was previously installed inside the ram, between the chip and the heatsink, it had stickiness on both sides. So is it a thermal tape ?

Or Do i need to combine thermal tape + thermal pads for getting the job done ?

I think the answer is present in your question... thermal "pad" / thermal "tape" - pad won't stick, at least I haven't seen a sticky thermal pad.
 
Careful with tape. I bent a 970 Evo Plus like a banana while removing the heatsink because I forgot I had used tape to attach it.

Drive still works, thankfully. I now use a thermal pad and some velcro, work a charm and quickly reversible. The rubber bands included with aftermarket sinks tend to turn into powder after a few months near a GPU.
 
Yea happened the same with me, the cheap rubber bands, they vanish after some time.
 
What temperatures are your SSDs operating at? This would give others an idea of what can be done in your case.
