Acting on a tip-off, a BSF team raided a parking lot and discovered a backpack containing 69,347 Yaba tablets. The contraband was handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation.

KOLKATA: In a major cross-border drug cartel haul, Border Security Force officers seized Yava tablets worth 6.9 crores near the India-Bangladesh border of Ghojadanga in North 24 Parganas.
Acting on a tip-off about a concealed stash of contraband items at a parking lot under the jurisdiction of Border Out Post (BOP) Ghojadanga, a team of officers of the 102 Battalion under BSF South Bengal Frontier raided the place on Saturday.

“The company commander dispatched a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) to the location, and the team meticulously cordoned off and searched the area, eventually uncovering a suspicious backpack. Upon inspection, the backpack contained five large packets tightly wrapped in brown tape. Inside these packets, 350 smaller poly packets were discovered, which held the Yaba tablets,” said a BSF spokesperson.
Officials said the packets contained 69,347 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 6.9 crores. Following due process, the seized tablets were handed over to the Customs Department, Ghojadanga, for further investigation and action, the official said.
