Democracy is not only about numbers, it gives voice to the marginalised. This was emphasised in a thought-provoking discussion titled ‘The Democracy Lab', on Sunday.
The session, featuring historian and former UPSC member Prof Purushottam Agrawal, author Radha Kumar and moderated by Somya Singh, delved into philosophical and practical dimensions of democracy.

Prof Agrawal emphasised democracy was not merely about numerical majorities but about valuing diverse voices.

"This demonstrates that majority is not always right. Democracy must listen to every voice, even those opposing the majority," he added.
