Mysuru: JD(S) core committee president GT Devegowda challenged his party colleague SR Mahesh to prove his statement that JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda invited him to campaign for Nikhil Kumaraswamy in the Channapatna byelection. "If HD Deve Gowda says that he invited me to campaign, I will quit politics," he said.
Speaking to reporters, he asked Mahesh to stop telling lies."I will not go to Chamundi Betta. All know what happened after AH Vishwanath and Mahesh went to the Betta," he said.
"I am telling only the truth. No one can scare me. I am doing politics independently," he said. "I never destroyed the political career of anyone. No one brought me to JD(S)," he said.
"JD(S) functionaries hurting me is not new to me. Repeatedly I am hurt here. What can I do?" he questioned.
He also stated that CM Ibrahim proposed a regional party with him. "He informed me that he will meet me again after a state tour. I didn't speak to any JD(S) MLAs," he said.
