Panaji: Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has announced that it will conduct an exam from Dec 7 for Class IX students who could not answer the first board-conducted exam for the class in Goa in Oct this year.
The board has said that the exam is for the students who could not answer the Oct Semester I exam for Class IX due to valid reasons such as participation in pre-scheduled sports events or illness.

After the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommendations in Class IX from the academic year 2024-25, the state decided to split the Class IX syllabus into two equal parts as Semester I and Semester II. It was decided that the Goa board will conduct both the semester-end exams for the class, for the first time, starting from 2024-25.
Accordingly, the Semester I exam was held in Oct. The question papers for the Oct exam were set by the Goa board.
However, the board has said that for the exam to be held in Dec, the question papers will be set by the respective schoolteachers.
“The format of the question paper must strictly follow the pattern uploaded on the board’s portal for the Oct 2024 examination,” the Goa board has said. “Each question paper should comprise 40 marks for multiple-choice questions and 40 marks for subjective-type questions.”
The board has, however, said that schools are required to send the question papers to it for scrutiny after the examination.
“The assessment of answer books must be carried out by the schools. After the assessment, the answer books must be shown to the students,” the board has said. “Any queries or discrepancies raised by students must be resolved before finalising marks. Final marks should be kept ready for upload on the board’s web portal. All schools are requested to ensure compliance with the instructions and facilitate a smooth examination process for the students.”
