Canacona: The Khola village panchayat, in its gram sabha on Sunday, resolved to write to the PWD to filter the raw water supplied for drinking. Since water comes directly from an untreated tank, it poses significant health risks, the panchayat said, adding that due to the prevalence of renal issues among Canacona residents, authorities must ensure that treated water is supplied for consumption.
The Saleri-Molorem service road has been dug up for laying electricity cables, causing inconvenience to motorists.Villagers have urged the traffic cell to deploy a cop to manage traffic and insisted that the contractor ensures proper work to prevent vehicles from getting stuck in loose soil.
They also discussed shacks generating more garbage and the need for proper transport and disposal of waste at the panchayat’s garbage plant. They also suggested assigning another person to assist the two already handling garbage work.
The gram sabha unanimously resolved to discuss any major project before approval. The meeting, presided over by sarpanch Priyanka Velip, was attended by nearly 100 villagers and seven of the nine panchayat members.
Cotigao gram sabha proposed to construct a culvert in Pansulemol ward. The meeting, presided over by sarpanch Vrunda Velip, included a presentation of the previous meeting's minutes by secretary Shradha Varik.
