Dibrugarh: The principal chief safety officer (PCSO) of the Northeast Frontier Railway was swept away by strong currents of the Lohit while taking a dip in the holy Parshuram Kund in Arunachal Pradesh's Lohit district.
The incident took place at 12.45pm on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Subhendu Kumar Choudhary (55).
Earlier, Choudhary accompanied by his wife, had embarked on an inspection visit from the NF Railway headquarters in Maligaon, Guwahati, to Tinsukia on Novr 22.

Following their travel to Pasighat and Dambuk, the couple reached the Parshuram Kund on Nov 24.
"Subhendu Kumar Choudhary had gone to participate in a holy ritual at Parshuram Kund. We are doing everything to locate him," a senior police officer said on Monday.
He added, "We have deployed all available personnel and equipment in the search operation. Teams from both the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have joined the effort."
